Did you know? We can change the sunlight directly into usable electricity utilizing solar cells. Each and every day, rays of sunshine envelops your home's solar panels with photons (particles of sunlight). The solar cells within the panels will convert those photons into electrons of direct current ("DC") electricity. The electrons flow out of the solar panel and into an inverter system; The inverter system will then invert that "DC" power (commonly used in batteries) into alternating current or "AC" power for usable electricity in the home. AC power is the kind of electrical that your television, computer, and refrigerator use when plugged into the wall outlet.

A net energy meter helps keeps track of the all the power your solar energy system produces. Any extra solar energy produced beyond what your home uses for that day will be sent back into the electrical grid through the meter. At night or on cloudy days, when your system is not producing enough energy to meet your home’s needs, you will pull electricity from the grid as normal. Your utility provider will then bill you for the "net" consumption for any given billing period and provide you with a credit for any excess energy during a given period.
